Join us for an evening of networking and great food in the community room followed by a private showing of "Code: Debugging the Gender Gap" in MovieHouse 6 at the newly renovated Coolidge Corner Theater!

"Code: Debugging the Gender Gap" is a 2015 documentary that explores the reasons behind the lack of women and minorities in computer science and the software industry. It doesn't focus on debugging code itself, but rather on debugging the societal and cultural reasons that lead to this gender gap.

The film explores:

• The history of women in tech: The documentary traces the contributions of women like Ada Lovelace and Grace Hopper, who were pioneers in computing, but also highlights the decline of women in computer science fields in the 1980s.
• Causes of the gender gap: The film examines factors like cultural stereotypes that portray tech as a male domain,lack of female role models in the field, and limited access to computer science education for girls. 
• Solutions and inspiring stories: "Code: Debugging the Gender Gap" also showcases successful women in tech and initiatives that aim to inspire young girls to pursue careers in computer science
